Complaints about a Member of Gloucestershire Police Authority

All Authority Members have to keep to a Code of Conduct to ensure that they maintain the high ethical standards the public expect from them. If a complaint reveals that a potential breach of this Code has taken place, Gloucestershire Police Authority may refer the allegations for investigation or decide to take other action.

Investigations will normally be managed by the Gloucestershire Police Authority. In cases where there is a conflict of interest or other unusual circumstance, then Standards for England will handle it.

Once cases have been investigated, the Authority's independently-chaired Standards Committee will decide what action, if any, should be taken against the Member. On rare occasions this responsibility will be given to the Adjudication Panel for England, an independent judicial tribunal.

Standards for England continues to prove guidance to authority Standards Committees and monitors their effectiveness to ensure that results are consistent.

The date and details of the misconduct you say happened should be included, and any background information that supports what you say. We can only investigate allegations that a Member has broken the Code of Conduct.

Please include copies of correspondence, documents, names and details of witnesses, and any other evidence that you feel is relevant to your complaint. Please let us know if you would like us to return the evidence to you.
