VACANCIES FOR INDEPENDENT MEMBERS ON GLOUCESTERSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY
Gloucestershire Police Authority is responsible for ensuring Gloucestershire Constabulary is efficient and effective. The Authority sets the policing budget and policing plan, makes Chief Officer appointments, and holds the Constabulary to account over performance and complaints. We are looking to appoint new Police Authority Independent Members to play an active part in the work of the Authority.
If you have great communication skills and the enthusiasm to seek out and listen to the views of all sections of the community on policing issues, you could be just the person we are looking for. We welcome people with different backgrounds and experience, e.g. business, finance, performance management, community relations, and the ability to challenge accepted views in a constructive way. The role of Independent Member requires a minimum commitment of 7 - 10 hours per week. We pay an allowance of circa £8K per annum, travel expenses and a childcare/carer’s allowance if required. By law you are entitled to reasonable unpaid time off work to carry out these duties.
Appointments are usually for a term of up to four years, starting in April 2011. We have one immediate vacancy. You must be 18 years or over, live or work within Gloucestershire, and have done so for at least a year prior to appointment, and not be otherwise disqualified. Employees of Gloucestershire Constabulary and of Gloucestershire County Council (other than teachers and Headteachers), and also County, District and Borough Councillors are not able to apply
We welcome applications from a wide range of people. We want our independent membership to represent everyone in Gloucestershire – irrespective of age, gender, ethnic origin, religious belief, sexual orientation, disability or other factors.
Please find below the documents in the Application Pack.
